description of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) In Bible

Welcome graphic

I want to submit for non Muslims information about Islam, and the question these days repeated from place to place, Is Islam true Religion or False Religion? Does Muhammad (PBUH) true Prophet?

To highlight, on these questions, we will take a look through Torah, and Gospel, to see, if there is any Signs lead us for these questions.

Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam in the Bible

All praises due to Allah who made us Muslims, who made us the nation of his last and final messenger Muhammad (PBUH). We thank Allah that he guided us from the darkness of disbelief to the light of Islam. We thank Allah that he honored us by the glorious Quran the last and final revelation. May Allah grant peace and blessings to our beloved prophet Muhammad and all other prophet as well.

We bear witness that there is no worthy of worship but Allah, Muhammad is the last and final Messenger of Allah.

We declare that we believe in each and every prophet, we believe in Moses, especially we believe in Jesus that he was a messiah, the Christ, we believe that he was one of the greatest messenger of Allah. We believe in his miraculous birth, we believe that he used to give life to the dead. However, we do not believe that he was a begotten Son of God rather than only begotten son. Moreover, we declare that no Muslim can be a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus.

We would like to thank and congratulate specially our non-Muslim brothers and newly Muslim brothers to attend this program.

Topic of the day is "Muhammad the prophet of Islam in the Bible".

Who is Muhammad?

Muhammad is the prophet of the prophets; Muhammad is the last and final Messenger of Allah. Allah says: Surah al-Imran 3: 81

Behold! Allah took the covenant of the Prophets saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then a Messenger will come to you confirming what is with you; you must believe in him and you must help him." Allah said: "Do you agree and take this My Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness and I am with you among the witnesses." (3:81)

This ayah confirmed that Muhammad is the prophet of the prophets; Muhammad is the last and final Messenger of Allah.

Muhammad (PBUH) is an UMMEE prophet:

Allah says:

Those who follow the Messenger, the prophet, who is ummee, (unlettered) whom they find written with them in the Torah and in the Bible. (7:157)

This ayah clearly indicates that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is written in the Torah and in the Bible. Even in the fabricated one. Because when this ayah was revealed, the Torah and the Bible have already been fabricated.

Allah says in another ayah:

Those to whom we gave the book recognize him as they recognize their sons; verily a group of them conceals the truth knowingly. (2: 146)

Allah says: Say: did you see? If he is from Allah, and you reject it, whereas a witness from Children of Israel testifies on his similarity, and has believed while you are arrogant. Truly, Allah guides not a people unjust. (46:10)

So according to these three ayahs from the holy Quran, prophet of Islam Muhammad (PBUH) is mentioned in the Torah and in the Bible.

According to first ayah, Muhammad is mentioned in the torah and in the Bible. According to second ayah people of the book, recognize him as they recognize their own sons. In addition, according to third ayah witnesses from among Children of Israel testify on his similarity with other prophets.

Let us search mentioning and similarity of Prophet Muhammad in the Torah and in the Bible:

Muhammad by name: Song of Solomon 5:10-16

16:His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters

The phrase "he is altogether lovely" reads in the Hebrew, as "he is Mahamaddim."
The Hebrew word Mahamaddim
. The ending letters im is a plural of respect and majesty just as in Elohim (the God). Without im the name becomes Muhammad, which was translated as "altogether lovely" in the Authorized Version of the Bible or 'The Praised One', 'the one worthy of Praise.' In Arabic, Muhammad means the one who is most praised.

 Other thing:

Ahmad by name: Haggai 2:7-9

And I will shake all nations, and the Himada of all the nations will come; and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts. The glory of last house shall be greater than that of the first one, says the Lord of hosts; and in this place I will give Shalom (Islam), says the Lord of Hosts.

The Hebrew words Mahmad, Mahamod, Himdah, and Hemed appearing in the Old Testament and the Arabic words Muhammad and Ahmad are all derived from the same root "H, M and D," and refer to the same general meaning.

In the Quran 61:6

And remember Jesus the son of Mary said: "O Children of Israel! I am the apostle of Allah (sent) to you confirming the Law (which came) before me and giving glad Tidings of an Apostle to come after me whose name shall be Ahmad." (61:6)

Muhammad for all the NATIONS:

According to Bible HIMADA or AHMAD or MUHAMMAD is for all the Nations, according to glorious Quran:

Sura Al-Furqan 25:1

Blessed is He Who has revealed unto His slave the Furqan (of right and wrong), that he may be a Warner to all the Nations, all creatures.

Ambiya 21:107

We sent thee not but as a Mercy for all the creatures.

Saba 34:28

We sent thee not but as a bringer of good tidings and a Warner unto all mankind.

I Cannot Read

Sahih al-Bukhari: Hadees 3

Volume 1, Book 1, Number 3:

Narrated 'Aisha:
(the mother of the faithful believers) The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's Apostle was in the form of good dreams which came true like bright day light, and then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him. He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food like-wise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, "I do not know how to read.
The Prophet added, "The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, 'I do not know how to read.' Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, 'I do not know how to read (or what shall I read)?' Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, 'Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists) has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous." (96.1, 96.2, 96.3) Then Allah's Apostle returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely. Then he went to Khadija bint Khuwailid and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" They covered him till his fear was over and after that he told her everything that had happened and said, "I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija replied, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your Kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones."
Khadija then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza, who, during the PreIslamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Hebrew letters. He would write from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to Waraqa, "Listen to the story of your nephew, O my cousin!" Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" Allah's Apostle described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same one who keeps the secrets (angel Gabriel) whom Allah had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." Allah's Apostle asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.
Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah Al-Ansari while talking about the period of pause in revelation reporting the speech of the Prophet "While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira' sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him and came back home and said, 'Wrap me (in blankets).' And then Allah revealed the following Holy Verses (of Quran):
'O you (i.e. Muhammad)! Wrapped up in garments!' Arise and warn (the people against Allah's Punishment),... up to 'and desert the idols.' (74.1-5) After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly."

Isaiah 29:12

11:And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12:
And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13: Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
15: Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16: Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
17: Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?
18: And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind
shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. (KJV)

" When it is handed to one who cannot read, with the request, " Read this" he replies, " I cannot read" (NAB)

And from holy Quran:

80. He Frowned (Àbasa)

Revealed before the Hijrah. This chapter has 42 verses.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

1. (The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

2. Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).

3. But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow in purity?-

4. Or that he might receive admonition, and the reminder might profit him?

5. As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,

Burden upon Arabia,

We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may learn wisdom ( al-Quraan12: 3)

Bible tells us about Ishmael father of Arab and about the prophet is going to come at Jajira Arabiyya.

Bible tells us about Ishmael:

Genesis 17:20

And as for Ishmael I have heard thee: behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly.

Nation of Ishmael Great nations, Zamzam in the Bible

If we compare between Children of Israel "Jews" their population over 10.000.000 person, While Children of Ishmael  "Arabs" about 300.000.000 Person, and "Muslims" about 1.200.000.000 person.

Genesis 21:17-21

17: And God heard the boy's cry; and God's messenger called Hagar from heaven: What is the matter, Hagar? Don't be afraid; God heard the boy's cry.
18: Arise, lift up the boy, and hold him by the hand; for I will make of him a great nation. .
19: And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the skin with water, and let the boy drink.

20: And God was with the boy; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
21: And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran
: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

Who are the Nation of Ishmael, son of Abraham? Are they not Muslims? Definitely, they are Muslims.

Bible tells us about the prophethood at Arabia:

Isaiah 21:13-17

(13) The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.
(14) The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
(15) For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
(16) For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
(17) And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.

Who fled?

Muhammad (PBUH) and His companions were fled from Mecca, from the drawn swords, and from the grievousness of war.
Within one year who's glory had failed and who had diminished and where?

Bible tells us glory of Kedar shall fail and the mighty men of the children of Kedar shall be diminished.

Who is Kedar?

Kedar is a forefather of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). And the mighty men of the children of Kedar were diminished in the battle of BADAR within one year exactly. Ten Thousand Saints

From Muhammads Genealogy: Adnan bin Add bin Humaisi bin Salaman bin Aws bin Buz bin Qamwal bin Obai bin Awwam bin Nashid bin Haza bin Bildas bin Yadlaf bin Tabikh bin Jahim bin Nahish bin Makhi bin Aid bin Abqar bin Ubaid bin Ad-Daa bin Hamdan bin Sanbir bin Yathrabi bin Yahzin bin Yalhan bin Arawi bin Aid bin Deshan bin Aisar bin Afnad bin Aiham bin Muksar bin Nahith bin Zarih bin Sami bin Mazzi bin Awda bin Aram bin Qaidar bin Ishmael son of Abraham [AWS]. [Rahmat-ul-lil'alameen 2/14-17]

Deuteronomy 33:2-3

(2) And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousand of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.

(3)Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.

According to Bible who is the inhabitant of Paran? Ishmael (Genesis 21:21) father of Arab. From whom Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is.

Who shined from the Paran?

The one shined from the Paran is Muhammad no doubt.
Ten thousand saints: we all know that the one who received the revelation of God at Arab land, the land of Paran is Muhammad only, and when he came from Madinah to Mecca number of the saints or believers were exactly ten thousand.
No one has received the revelation at Arab land except Muhammad, and no one came with ten thousand disciples except Muhammad.

Fiery law: It is fiery because it has dismissed all other laws.

In the fifth year of the Hegira, the Quraish tried to destroy the Muslims but failed. By now the Muslims were too strong so the Quraish never again tried to defeat them. Muhammad then set his sights on Mecca. At one point in 628, Muhammad took 10,000 men and entered Mecca unchallenged. The leader of the Quraish converted to Islam.

A Prophet From Among Their Brethren

Prophet Abraham, father of Ishmael prayed to Allah after he built the Ka'ba:

Our Lord! And raise up in their midst a messenger from among them who shall recite unto them Thy revelations, and shall instruct them in the Scripture and in wisdom and shall make them grow. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, Wise. (Baqarah 2:129)

Ishmael brother of Isaac. Abraham prayed with his son Ishmael for a Messenger to come among the children of Ishmael from them.

God said to Moses:

Deuteronomy 18:18

"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, (Like you Moses)and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." Deut.18: 18.

Among their Brethren

It is very clear that, here God was addressing Children of Israel, so no doubt their brethren are Children of Ishmael, the Arabs.

Prophet Like Moses: ask any Christian, "To whom does this prophecy refer?" answer will be "JESUS!" ask him "In which way is Jesus like Moses?" The answer will be: " first of all Moses was a JEW and Jesus was also a JEW; secondly, Moses was a PROPHET and Jesus was also a PROPHET. Therefore, Jesus is like Moses. If that is all so why you do not fit this criteria to any one of the following Biblical personages after Moses:- Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, John the Baptist etc., because they were also ALL Jews as well as Prophets. Why should we not apply this prophecy to any one of these prophets, and why only to Jesus? Surely there will be no reply.

Jesus is unlike Moses

(1) According Christian faith 'JESUS IS A GOD', but Moses is not God.
(2) According Christian faith 'JESUS DIED FOR THE SINS OF THE - WORLD', but Moses did not have to die for the sins of the world
.
(3) According Christian faith 'JESUS WENT TO HELL FOR THREE DAYS', but Moses did not have to go there.

Muhammad is like Moses )S.A.W(

Father and Mother (1) "Moses had a father and a mother. Muhammad also had a father and a mother. But Jesus had only a mother, and no human father.
Miraculous Birth: (2) "Moses and Muhammad were born a natural birth but Jesus was created by a special miracle.
Marriage Ties
(3) "Moses and Muhammad married and begot children, but Jesus remained a bachelor all his life.
Jesus was rejected by his own People
(4) "Moses and Muhammad were accepted as prophets by their people in their very lifetime. But according to the Bible-

'He (Jesus) CAME UNTO HIS OWN, BUT HIS OWN RECEIVED HIM NOT.' (John 1:11). And even today, after two thousand years, his people- the Jews, as a whole, have rejected him.

No New Laws (6) "Moses and Muhammad brought new laws and new regulations for their people. But Jesus said himself:

'THINK NOT THAT I AM COME TO DESTROY THE LAW, OR THE PROPHETS: I AM NOT COME TO DESTROY, BUT TO FULFIL.' (Mathew 5:17-18).

In other words, he had not come with any new laws or regulation he came only to fulfil the old one.

How they Departed (7) "Both Moses and Muhammad died natural deaths, but according to Christian faith, Jesus was violently killed on the cross.

Heavenly Abode (8) "Moses and Muhammad both were buried in earth, but according to Christian faith, Jesus in heaven. (The Choice)

(9) Moses Emigrated from Egypt because (Unbelievers were following him and his people) and he established Jewish society in ancient Israel. Same thing Muhammad (PBUH) he left Mecca (unbelievers were follow him and his people) and Emigrated to AL-Madina and he established Muslim society in Al-Madina. While Jesus did not.

"Therefore Jesus is not like Moses but Muhammad is like Moses.
" a witness from Children Israel testifies on his similarity, (al-Quran 46:10)

His glory covered the Heavens; His splendour spreads like the light

God came from Teman, and the Holy one from mount Paran, His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. His splendour spreads like the light, rays shine forth from his hand, where his power is concealed. ( HABAKKUK 3:3 . KJV / NAB)

He shall speak in my name

Deut.18: 19

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

The evidence for 'he shall speak in my name':

Every Surah (Chapter) of the Quran, except the ninth, begins with the words:

"In The Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful."

I will put my words in his mouth

God said:

And I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." Deut.18: 18.

Allah says about Muhammad (PBUH):

Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. It is no less than inspiration sent down to him (al-Quran 53: 3-4)

One of the numerous examples of '...and I will put my words into his mouth...' is mentioned below from the Quran; the verses begin with the word 'Say':

"Say (O Muhammad): He Is Allah the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He Begetteth Not, nor Is He Begotten: And There Is None like unto Him. (Quran 112:1-4)

Revelation piece by piece

The glorious Quran was revealed piece by piece in 23 years.

Isaiah 28:10-13 (read verses 10 to 16 for full context)

(10) For he says command on command, command on command, rule on rule, rule on rule, here a little, there a little!

(11) For with stammering lips and in a strange language he will speak to this people.

(12) To whom he said, This is the resting place, give rest to the weary; here is repose but they would not listen.

(13) So for them the word of the LORD shall be: command on command, command on command, rule on rule, rule on rule, here a little, there a little!

Strange language: if bible (Torah and Enjeel "Gospel" came in hebrew, Holy Quran came in Arabic, and Arabic Strange for hebrew.)

And from Holy Quran this verse:

105. We sent down the (Quran) in Truth, and in Truth has it descended: and We sent thee but to give Glad Tidings and to warn (sinners).

106. (It is) a Quran which We have divided (into parts from time to time), in order that thou mightest recite it to men at intervals: We have revealed it by stages.

17:105-106

New Song: Al-Quran

Isaiah 42:10

(10) Sing unto the LORD a new song and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

Who is that Prophet?

John: Chapter 1:19-21

(19) And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, who art thou? (20) And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. (21) And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

It means undoubtfully that there is a prophet after Christ. And If we look up any Bible which has a concordance or cross-references, then we will find in the marginal note where the words "the Prophet, or "that Prophet" occur in John 1:25, that these words refer to the prophecy of Deuteronomy 18:15 and 18. And that 'that prophet'-'the prophet like Moses'-"LIKE UNTO THEE", we have proved through overwhelming evidence that he was MUHAMMAD and not Jesus.

<BLINK>Jesus PBUH speaks about Muhammad (PBUH)</BLINK><BLINK> </BLINK>

I will send him unto you (JESUS SPEAKING)

John 16:7

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if, I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

I will send Holy Spirit

John 15: 26

"But if I go, I will send Holy Spirit"? "When the Paraclete comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness of me." John 15:26

And if we focus, that Moses was Human, and Holy Ghost was an Angel, and Moses not Like Holy Ghost, so who will come after Jesus will be Human. (LIKE UNTO THEE).

He will give you another Paraclete / comforter

John 14: 16

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Paraclete (comforter), that he may abide with you (for ever) into the age (to come)."

Paraclete, the Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name

John 14: 26

"But the Paraclete, the Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you."

He will guide you into all the truth

John.16: 13

But when he, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own initiative, but whatever he hears, he will speak. John.16: 13 (Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. It is no less than inspiration sent down to him (al-Quran 53: 3-4)

He shall glorify me

John 16:14

He shall glorify me."

The Quran glorifies the birth of Jesus. The Quran also confirms, Jesus was a Messiah translated Christ; a Messenger of God; the Spirit from God; the Word of God and the Righteous Prophet.

Description of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

(Beauty of Creation: Describing Allahs Messenger, who passed by her tent on his journey of migration, Umm Mabad Al-Khuzaiyah said to her husband:

He was innocently bright and had broad countenance. His manners were fine. Neither was his belly bulging out nor was his head deprived of hair. He had black attractive eyes finely arched by continuous eyebrows. His hair glossy and black, inclined to curl, he wore long. His voice was extremely commanding. His head was large, well formed and set on a slender neck. His expression was pensive and contemplative, serene and sublime.

The stranger was fascinated from the distance, but no sooner he became intimate with him than this fascination was changed into attachment and respect. His expression was very sweet and distinct. His speech was well set and free from the use of superfluous words, as if it were a rosary of beads. His stature was neither too high nor too small to look repulsive. He was a twig amongst the two, singularly bright and fresh. He was always surrounded by his Companions. Whenever he uttered something, the listeners would hear him with rapt attention and whenever he issued any command, they vied with each other in carrying it out. He was a master and a commander. His utterances were marked by truth and sincerity, free from all kinds of falsehoods and lies.

Ali bin Abi Talib describing him said: Allahs Messenger r was neither excessively tall nor extremely short. He was medium height among his friends. His hair was neither curly nor wavy. It was in between. It was not too curly nor was it plain straight. It was both curly and wavy combined. His face was not swollen or meaty-compact. It was fairly round. His mouth was white. He had black and large eyes with long haired eyelids. His joints (limbs) and shoulder joints were rather big. He had a rod-like little hair extending from his chest down to his navel, but the rest of his body was almost hairless. He had thick hand palms and thick fingers and toes. At walking, he lifted his feet off the ground as if he had been walking in a muddy remainder of water. When he turned, he turned all. The Prophethood Seal was between his shoulders. He is the Seal of Prophets, the most generous and the bravest of all.

His speech was the most reliable. He was the keenest and the most attentive to peoples trust and was very careful to pay peoples due in full. The Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the most tractable and the most yielding companion, seeing him unexpectedly you fear him and venerate him. He who has acquaintance with him will like him. He who describes him says:

I have never seen such a person neither before nor after seeing him.

Jabir bin Samurah reported that Allâhs Messenger r had a broad face with reddish (wide) eyes and lean heels.

Abu At-Tufail said: He was white, good-looking. He was neither fat nor thin; neither tall nor short.

Anas bin Malik said: He had unfolded hands and was pink-colored. He was neither white nor brown. He was rather whitish. In both his head and beard there were as many as twenty gray hairs, besides some gray hairs at his temples. In another version: and some scattered white hairs in his head.

Abu Juhaifa said: I have seen some gray color under his lower lip. Al-Bara said: He was of medium height, broad-shouldered, his hair went up to his earlobes. I saw him dressed in a red garment and I (assure you) I have never seen someone more handsome. At first he used to let his hair loose so as to be in compliance with the people of the Book; but later on he used to part it.

Al-Bara also said: He had the most handsome face and the best character. When he was asked: Was the Messengers face sword-like? No, he said: it was moon-like. But in another version: he said, His face was round. Ar-Rabi bint Muawwidh said: Had you seen him, you would have felt that the sun was shining. Jabir bin Samurah said, I saw him at one full-moony night. I looked at him. He was dressed in a red garment. I compared him with the moon and found that he was better than the moon.

Abu Huraira said: I have never seen a thing nicer than Allahs Messenger r. It seems as if the sunlight were moving within his face. I have never seen one who is faster in pace than Allahs Messenger r. It seemed as if the earth had folded itself up to shorten the distance for him. For we used to wear ourselves out while he was at full ease.

Kab bin Malik said: When he was pleased, his face would shine with so bright light that you would believe that it was a moon-piece. Once he sweated hot at Aishahs, and the features of his face twinkled; so I recited a poem by Abu Kabeer Al-Hudhali:

If you watch his face-features, you will see them twinkling like the lightning of an approaching rain.

Whenever Abu Bakr saw him he would say:

He is faithful, chosen (by Allâh), and calls for forgiveness. He shines like a full-moon light when it is far from dark (clouds).

Umar used to recite verses by Zuhair describing Haram bin Sinan:

Were you other than a human being, you would be a lighted moon at a full-moon night. Then he would add: Thus was Allahs Messenger r.

When he got angry his face would go so red that you would think it were an inflected red skin-spot with pomegranate grains on both cheeks. Jabir bin Samurah said: His legs were gentle, delicate and in conformity. His laughter is no more than smiling. Looking at him will make you say He is black-eyed though he is not so.

Ibn Al-Abbas said: His two front teeth were splinted so whenever he speaks, light goes through them. His neck was as pure and silvery as a neck of doll. His eyelids were long haired but his beard was thick. His forehead was broad; but his eyebrows were like the metal piece attached to a lance, but they were unhorned. His nose was high-tipped, middle-cambered with narrow nostrils. His cheeks were plain, but he had (little hair) running down like a rod from his throat to his navel. He had hair neither on his abdomen nor on his chest except some on his arms and shoulders. His chest was broad and flatted. He had long forearms with expansive palms of the hand. His legs were plain straight and stretching down. His other limbs were straight too. The two hollows of his soles hardly touch the ground. When he walks away he vanishes soon; but he walks at ease (when he is not in a hurry). The way he walks seems similar to one who is leaning forwards and is about to fall down.

Anas said: I have never touched silk or a silky garment softer than the palm of the Prophets (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him); nor have I smelt a perfume or any scent nicer than his. In another version, I have never smelt ambergris nor musk nor any other thing sweeter than the scent and the smell of Allahs Messenger (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Abu Juhaifa said: I took his hand and put it on my head and I found that it was colder than ice and better scented than the musk perfume.

Jabir bin Samurah who was a little child then said: When he wiped my cheek, I felt it was cold and scented as if it had been taken out of a shop of a perfume workshop.

Anas said, His sweat was pearl-like. Umm Sulaim said: His sweat smelt nicer than the nicest perfume.

Jabir said: Whoever pursues a road that has been trodden by Allahs Messenger r will certainly scent his smell and will be quite sure that Allahs Messenger(Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has already passed it. The Seal of Prophethood, which was similar in size to a pigeons egg, was between his shoulders on the left side having spots on it like moles.

and this...

(11: His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as a raven.)

Book 30, Number 5770:

Al-Bara' reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) was of medium height, having broad shoulders, with his hair hanging down on the lobes of his ears. He put on a red mantle over him, and never have I seen anyone more handsome than Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him).

Book 30, Number 5771:

Al-Bara' reported: Never did I see anyone more handsome than Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) in the red mantle. His hair had been hanging down on the shoulders and his shoulders were very broad, and he was neither very tall nor short-statured. Ibn Kuraib said he had hair.

Book 30, Number 5773:

Qatada reported: I asked Anas b. Malik: How was the hair of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him)? Thereupon he said: His hair was neither very curly nor very straight, and they hung over his shoulders and earlobes.

(10: My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand)

Book 30, Number 5786:

Abu Juhaifa reported: I saw Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) that he had white complexion and had some white hair, and Hasan b. 'Ali resembled him.

Book 30, Number 5779:

Ibn Sirin reported: Anas b. Malik was asked whether Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) dyed his hair. He said: He had not become old enough to have white hair. Ibn Idris said that he had a few white hair. Abu Bakr and Umar, however, dyed hair with hina' (henna).

(White hair for old man. not the main color of his hair.)

Book 49, Number 49.1.1:

Yahya related to me from Malik that Rabia ibn Abi Abd ar-Rahman heard Anas ibn Malik say, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was not excessively tall or short. He was not very pallid nor dark. He did not have curly hair or lank hair. Allah commissioned him at the age of forty. He stayed in Makka ten years and at Madina for ten years and Allah the Mighty, the Majestic made him die when he was sixty. There were not twenty white hairs in his hair or beard, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."

3. In Sunan al-Nasai from al-Bara ibn Azib Allah be well-pleased with him with a chain of trustworthy (thiqa) narrators:

The Prophet Allah bless and greet him was a wide-shouldered man of proportionate/medium build, thick-bearded (kathth al-lihya) with a reddish complexion (talûhu humratun), his long hair reaching to the earlobes. I saw him [thus], wearing a red tunic and never saw anyone more handsome.

In none of the other wordings of this narration from al-Bara in the Sahihayn, the Sunan, and the Musnad of Ahmad including al-Nasais own three additional versions are the words kathth al-lihya mentioned. This is therefore likely to be a shâdhdh anomalous wording.

Nice note: Al-Bukhari and Ahmad relate that the Tabii Abu Ishaq al-Hamadani said he heard al-Bara narrate this description many times, but always with a smile on his face.

4. In Ahmads Musnad, with three chains from Muhammad ibn Ali from Ali Allah be well-pleased with him :

The Prophet Allah bless and greet him had a large head (dakhm al-ras) with very large eyes (azîm al-aynayn), long eyelashes (hadib al-ashfâr/al-shifâr), and eyes with red in them (mushrab al-ayni/al-aynayn bihumratin), he was thick-bearded (kathth al-lihya) and of pink (azhar) complexion. He walked briskly, as if down a slope. Whenever he turned [to look], he turned with his entire body. He had fine hands and feet.

These three chains contain Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil who is daîf (weak) as in Tahrir Taqrib al-Tahdhib (2:264 #3592).

The mention of the red eyes is anomalous (shâdhdh), since (1) all narrations other than Ibn Aqils attribute color to the face/skin, not the eyes, and (2) the Prophet Allah bless and greet him is elsewhere described as adaj al-aynayn: His eyes were jet-black. The very large eyes are confirmed in another narration with the terms ashkal / ashhal al-aynayn: Wide-Eyed.

5. In Ahmads Musnad, with two other chains from Nafi ibn Jubayr ibn Mutim, from Ali:

The Prophet Allah bless and greet him was neither tall nor short. He had a large head and beard (dakhmu al-rasi wal-lihya), fine hands and feet, his face had a reddish hue (mushrab wajhuhu humratan), he had a long chest-to-navel line of hair (tawîl al-masruba) and large joints (karâdîs). He walked briskly, literally leaning forward as if going downhill. I never saw anyone comparable before or after him.

These chains contain Uthman ibn Abd Allah ibn Hurmuz = Uthman ibn Muslim ibn Hurmuz who is daîf as in the Tahrir (2:446 #4517). [This is not Imam Maliks Shaykh.]

The zeugma large head and beard suggests that by large/great head in the hadiths nos. 4-5 and 7-8, is actually meant large head of hair so as to resemble the wording of no. 2 above, i.e. plentiful hair and an ample/full beard.
